Plunger Valve Manufacturer in Europe
ValvesOnly Europe manufactures and supplies plunger valves designed for accurate flow regulation and shut-off in high pressure pipeline systems. Engineered for smooth throttling and controlled pressure reduction, our plunger valves are suitable for water transmission, hydropower, irrigation, dams, and other industrial applications requiring stable flow control and reduced cavitation.
What is a Plunger Valve?
Plunger Valve is a linear control valve that is used to control the flow or to isolate the flow of fluids through the movement of a plunger in the valve body. Plungers vary the flow area in order to achieve precise flow and pressure control without experiencing cavitation, vibrations, or energy losses. Plunger valves are typically used in water transportation, hydropower, and irrigation systems.
How Does a Plunger Valve Work?
- The plunger is directly coupled to a stem driven by a handwheel, gearbox, pneumatic actuator or electric actuator.
- As the plunger retracts, the full bore opens to allow straight through, low turbulence flow.
- On closing, the plunger advances through the seat, mechanically displacing trapped solids and producing a self cleaning shut off action.
- The stem plunger assembly is guided to prevent lateral movement, which protects the seat and packing from uneven wear.
Design and Construction Features:
Full Bore Flow Path
The internal bore matches the connecting pipeline diameter, minimizing pressure drop and eliminating pockets where solids can accumulate.
Self Cleaning Seat Design
The wiping action of the plunger against the seat clears buildup on the sealing surface at every operating cycle, supporting repeatable shut off in dirty or slurry service.
Bidirectional Sealing
Seat arrangements are available for bidirectional flow isolation, allowing installation without regard to flow direction in most configurations.
Live Loaded Packing
Spring loaded or adjustable packing glands maintain stem sealing force across temperature cycling and reduce fugitive emissions at the stem.
Renewable Seats and Sleeves
Seat rings, sleeves and plunger tips are replaceable in the field, extending service life without requiring full valve replacement.
