Electric Actuated Valve

Electric actuated valve manufacturer in Germany

Valvesonly Europe designs and manufactures Electric actuated valves for flow control, isolation, and on/off or modulating duty across process piping systems. Each valve is paired with an electric actuator at the factory, tested as a complete unit, and supplied ready for installation and commissioning.

What is an Electric Actuated Valve?

Electric actuated valves refer to valve bodies which are equipped with electric actuators which operate the valves through the use of a motor, rather than operating manually. The electric actuator responds to signals from the control panel, PLC, DCS, or local switch, and transforms them to rotational or linear motion of the valve stem.

Working Principle:

  • The electric actuator houses a motor, gear train, limit switches, and torque switches inside a weatherproof or explosion proof enclosure.
  • On receiving a signal, the motor drives the gear train, which rotates a quarter turn valve (such as a ball, plug, or butterfly design) through 90°, or drives a multi turn valve (such as a gate or globe design) up and down its stem via a threaded yoke.
  • The limit switch stops the motor in both positions open and close.
  • The torque switch acts as a safety measure to ensure that the valve seat and actuator do not get damaged due to overload.
  • On-off actuators move the actuator between the two extreme positions, while modulating actuators use the control signal of 4-20 mA/0-10V.

Types of Electric Actuated Valve:

  • Electric Actuated Ball Valve – Quarter turn valve for on/off isolation and flow control.
  • Electric Actuated Plug Valve – Electrically operated plug valve for viscous fluids and slurries.
  • Electric Actuated Gate Valve – Multi turn valve for full bore isolation applications.
  • Electric Actuated Knife Gate Valve – Designed to handle slurries, pulp, and abrasive media.
  • Electric Actuated Globe Valve – Provides accurate flow regulation using an electric actuator.

Actuator Specifications:

  • Torque rating: ranging from 20 Nm to more than 4,000 Nm based on the valve dimensions and classification

Standards and Certifications:

The valves are made by Valvesonly Europe and are actuated electrically according to the standards of API 600, API 602, API 6D, BS EN 1984, BS 5163, ASME B16.34, ASME B16.10, and EN 12266 in terms of their design and testing. Face to face and flange dimensions follow ASME B16.5, ASME B16.47, and EN 1092-1. Fire safe design is available to API 607 and API 6FA. Actuators carry CE marking, and ATEX/IECEx variants are available for hazardous area installation.

Electric actuated valve Applications:

  • Oil and gas production, gathering lines, and terminal facilities
  • Petrochemical processing units
  • Chemical plants
  • Power generation, including boiler feed and cooling water lines
  • Water and wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations
  • Pulp and paper processing lines
  • Marine and offshore piping systems
  • Mining and mineral processing circuits
  • District heating and steam distribution networks

Manufacturing and Testing:

Every electric actuated valve is factory assembled with its actuator, wired, and function-tested through a full open close cycle before dispatch. Valves undergo hydrostatic shell testing and seat leakage testing per API 598 and EN 12266, and torque settings on the actuator are configured to match the valve’s seating requirements. Material test certificates (EN 10204 3.1/3.2), pressure test reports, and actuator wiring diagrams are issued with each order.

Custom Configurations:

Electric actuated valves, made according to project specifications, are supplied by Valvesonly Europe. These specifications include individual face to face dimensions, special trim and body material, long bonnet design for cryogenic/high temperature lines, gearing type bypass designs, as well as compatibility with the current SCADA/DCS control system design. Technical information, dimension drawings and actuator wiring diagrams can be provided upon request.
