Diaphragm Valve

Diaphragm Valve Manufacturer in Germany

Diaphragm Valve Manufacturer in Germany for isolation and throttling duties across process lines carrying corrosive, abrasive, and viscous media. Each valve is built with a flexible diaphragm that seals against a weir or straight through body, giving a bubble tight shut off without packing glands, seats, or stuffing boxes in the flow path. As a manufacturer, we produce diaphragm valves in cast iron and ductile iron bodies with manual, electric, and pneumatic actuation to match a wide range of pressure, temperature, and control requirements.

What is a Diaphragm Valve?

Diaphragm valves are an example of linear valves, which work by the compression or extension of a diaphragm, usually made from flexible material, linked to a compressor or stem. In order to shut off the flow, open or throttle the flow of fluid, the valve’s compressor is moved vertically up or down, compressing the diaphragm against the weir of the valve body or covering the whole bore of the valve in case of straight through design.

Types of Diaphragm Valve:

  • Cast Iron Diaphragm Valve – Cast iron body for water, effluent, and general process lines at moderate pressure and temperature.
  • Ductile Iron Diaphragm Valve – Ductile iron body with higher strength and impact resistance, suited to water, wastewater, and slurry pipelines.
  • Electric Diaphragm Valve – Diaphragm valve with an electric actuator for remote or automated operation via PLC, DCS, or control panel.
  • Pneumatic Diaphragm Valve – Diaphragm valve operated by compressed air for fast cycle times in automated control and shut off applications.

Working Principle:

  • The compressor is driven by a handwheel, electric actuator, or pneumatic actuator
  • Compressor motion moves the diaphragm toward the weir
  • Flow is progressively restricted as the diaphragm contacts the weir
  • Full closure occurs at the seating line
  • Reversing the compressor lifts the diaphragm away from the weir, opening the flow path
  • The diaphragm is the only wetted moving part, so wear stays concentrated on a single, replaceable component

Face-to-face standard EN 558, ISO 5752
Flange standard EN 1092-1, ASME B16.5

Body Design Options:

  • Weir Type Body – The raised weir under the diaphragm reduces the stroke needed for shut off and lowers stress on the diaphragm, extending service life in throttling duty.
  • Straight Through Body – The diaphragm crosses the full bore for a straighter flow path, used where pressure drop needs to stay low or where the line carries slurries and fibrous solids.

Diaphragm Materials:

  • EPDM – for water, dilute acids, and alkalis
  • NBR – for oils and hydrocarbon based media
  • Viton (FKM) – for a broader range of chemicals and higher temperature service
  • PTFE-faced diaphragm – for aggressive chemical lines where elastomer contact is not suitable

End Connections:

Diaphragm valves are supplied with flanged ends drilled to EN 1092-1 or ASME B16.5, wafer-style ends for installation between existing flanges, and threaded ends for smaller bore sizes. Connection type is selected based on pipeline standard, available space, and maintenance access.

Actuation Options:

  • Handwheel Operation – direct manual control for local isolation duty
  • Electric Actuation – motorized operation for remote and automated control, with on/off and modulating configurations
  • Pneumatic Actuation – air operated actuation for fast acting and fail safe applications, available with double acting and spring-return configurations

Applications Diaphragm Valve:

Diaphragm valve from Valvesonly Europe are installed across:

  • Water treatment and distribution networks
  • Wastewater and effluent treatment plants
  • Chemical processing and dosing systems
  • Mining and mineral processing lines
  • Pulp and paper production
  • Power plant auxiliary systems
  • Slurry and abrasive media handling

Advantages of Diaphragm Valve:

  • Bubble tight shut off without packing or stem seals
  • No cavities for media to accumulate, supporting cleaner flow paths
  • Low maintenance, as the diaphragm is the only part exposed to wear
  • Suitable for slurries, viscous fluids, and media containing solids
  • Simple in-line diaphragm replacement without removing the valve body from the pipeline

Why choose Valvesonly Europe?

Valvesonly Europe manufactures diaphragm valves to EN and ASME standards, with body castings, machining, and assembly carried out under in house quality control. We supply cast iron and ductile iron diaphragm valves with handwheel, electric, and pneumatic actuation, along with material test certificates, EN 12266 test reports, and documentation packages for project and tender requirements. Custom face to face dimensions, flange drilling, and diaphragm materials are available on request.
