What is a Pneumatic Actuated Valve?

A pneumatic actuated valve is a valve assembly fitted with a pneumatic actuator that uses compressed air to generate the torque or thrust required to open, close, or throttle the valve. The actuator converts air pressure into mechanical motion through a piston or diaphragm mechanism, which is transferred to the valve stem or shaft via a coupling, yoke, or bracket assembly.

How Does a Pneumatic Actuated Valve Work?

Compressed air is supplied to the pneumatic actuator through a solenoid valve or air control system.
Air pressure moves the actuator piston or diaphragm, generating mechanical force.
The actuator converts air pressure into rotary or linear motion, depending on the valve type.
The valve stem is driven to open, close, or regulate the flow of the process fluid.
For spring return actuators, the spring automatically returns the valve to its fail safe position when the air supply is lost.
For double acting actuators, compressed air is used for both opening and closing operations.
Positioners and limit switches can be integrated to provide accurate valve positioning and remote monitoring in automated control systems.
