In this design, the plug, which can be conical or cylindrical, spins around an axis that is not centrally aligned with the valve body, allowing for smooth, frictionless operation as the plug moves from open to closed position. This eccentric motion decreases wear while increasing sealing efficacy, making the valve suited for high-pressure, abrasive, or corrosive applications. An eccentric plug valve controls fluid flow by spinning a plug on an offset (eccentric) axis. When the valve is turned, the eccentric plug pivots around its offset axis, resulting in a smooth and gradual transition between open and closed positions. This movement pulls the plug away from the valve seat in the open position and presses it snugly against the seat in the closed position, resulting in a reliable seal and little leakage. The eccentric design reduces friction and wear on valve components, enabling for efficient operation and a longer service life even at high pressures or with abrasive fluids.
