What is a Tilting Disc Check Valve?

Tilting disc check valve is a types of check valve used in plumbing systems to stop reverse flow. Swing Check Valve:

In a swing check valve, a hinged  shaped disc swings open to allow forward flow and swings closed to prevent backflow. The disc is typically mounted on a hinge or a pin at the top of the valve body. When there is forward flow, the force of the fluid pushes the disc open, allowing flow through the valve. When flow stops or reverses, gravity or backflow pressure causes the disc to swing shut, preventing reverse flow.

Titling Disc Check Valve:

In a titling disc check valve, the disc tilts or pivots on a hinge as fluid flows through the valve. The disc remains partially open during forward flow, allowing fluid to pass through. When flow stops or reverses, the disc tilts back into a closed position, blocking reverse flow. Titling disc check valves typically have a lower pressure drop compared to swing check valves, making them suitable for applications with low headroom or low-pressure systems.
