Non-slam check valves, also known as nozzle check valves has automatic opening and shutting valve discs that rely on the flow of the medium itself to reduce noise when open or closed. An automatic valve includes a non-slam check valve. Its primary duties are to prevent medium backflow, prevent the pump and drive motor from reversing, and release the container’s medium. The non-slam check valve can also be used to replenish auxiliary systems where the pressure may exceed the system pressure. The non-slam check valve’s purpose is to inhibit flow in the opposite direction, allowing just one way for the media to flow. The valve disc opens under the pressure of the fluid flowing in one direction; when the fluid flows in the other direction, the valve disc acts on the valve seat, cutting off the flow due to the fluid pressure and the self-coincidence of the valve disc. It is incompatible with mediums that include solid particles or have a high viscosity. These valves close without slamming, ensuring that no excessive pressure spikes are formed. An internal spring in the disc of a non-slam check valve opposes the opening fluid flow pressure. When the flow of a media is strong enough, the spring compresses and the valve opens; as the flow diminishes and stops, the spring smoothly pushes the disc back toward the valve’s seating surface, but before the flow direction changes.
